Project Detail
TRACE provided topographic surveying services for the widening of Queen Creek Road from McQueen Road to Gilbert Road in Chandler, AZ. Surveying services included establishing horizontal and vertical control throughout the project limits based on a datum specified by the City, topographic survey of existing features, and the development of a photo log of the existing corridor.
The project utilized the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD 83) for horizontal control and the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD 88) for vertical control and utilized existing City benchmarks.
The topographic survey included collecting horizontal and vertical information of existing features along the project corridor including curb and gutter, median curb, catch basins, scuppers, water meter boxes, valves, manholes, utility poles and guy wires, traffic signal poles, fences, vegetation, etc. This data was processed using AutoCAD Civil3D and a CAD drawing and an existing grade digital terrain model (DTM) was prepared for use during design.
A photo log captured a photograph at approximately 50 foot increments along the proposed curb line. The photos were organized sequentially and presented in a multiple sheet log showing aerial photography of the project limits and the photographs along the proposed curb line.
